Local firefighters have been assigned to strike teams and headed for the wildfires in Tahoe, Monday.
Sixteen firefighters and five fire engines comprise the CAL Fire/Butte County Fire strike team, which includes two engines from CAL Fire/Butte County's headquarters in Thermalito; one engine from Jarbo Gap; and one from Paradise.
Some of the firefighters from Butte County were battling a blaze in Lassen-Modoc and Susanville area that consumed 300 acres when they got released and were sent to fight the wildland fires in Tahoe.
"Some of the firefighters on this strike team will be in reserve and used for structure protection," said Janet Upton, Public Information Officer for CAL Fire/Butte County Fire.
